OPEN LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA

OPEN LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu

Date: Saturday, 5th of July, 2025

Dear President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,

I’m writing this open letter to you to share a few thoughts that I believe, if considered, can help move both your leadership and our nation forward. On May 29, 2023, you assumed office as the President of Nigeria. Since then, you’ve made efforts to improve the country and fulfill your promises. However, the reality is that those efforts have not produced the desired results. In fact, things have steadily worsened, and life has become unbearable for the average Nigerian.

Perhaps you’re not fully aware, but let me say this clearly: there is a reason you were allowed to become President. Before the last election, Nigeria was on the brink of a civil war. Foreign powers knew this, and they understood that if a southerner didn’t take office, the outcome could be catastrophic. So, they let you in—not because they believe in you more than Peter Obi, but because you were the safer choice.

They don’t have much leverage over Peter Obi, but with you, they have enough skeletons in the cupboard to hold you hostage. They can blackmail you and bend your will to serve their agenda. Since your emergence, we’ve witnessed numerous trips to Western nations, especially France. One can’t help but wonder—what exactly are you going to do there when your own house is burning?

More importantly, there’s already a strong agenda to unseat you in the next election, regardless of how hard you try to remain in power. The plan is to return power to the North so the cycle of looting can continue. But we can’t continue like this!

All I ask—my single plea—is that you use the power and opportunity you currently have to decentralize power in Nigeria. Return control to the states and local governments. If possible, revive the regional structure we once had—Northern, Eastern, and Western Regions. Nigeria will remain a failed state until we dismantle the colonial structure and remove foreign hands from our national affairs. If Nigeria didn’t get better after over 100 years of its formation, then we shouldn’t hope for anything better in the next 100 years if we don’t do anything different.

Let me say this, Mr. President, this may be your last chance. So, why not use it to create a legacy that generations will remember you for—a legacy built on restructuring and freeing the country from this inherited system of a "one-man country"?

Yes, corruption has eaten deep into every sector. Nowhere is safe. But you still have executive power. You can use it to—cut down on the size of government, reduce ministries, eliminate unnecessary expenditures. Ban unnecessary foreign trips, and invest in your people. That will be the only legacy worth leaving.

Colonial agents are serious about unseating you in the next election. If they sense that Nigeria can survive without tipping into civil war, they will not hesitate to do it quietly. Their agenda is simple: keep the people oppressed, sustain a false sense of stability, and continue looting through the elite and political class. They don’t want total war, but they certainly don’t want peace either. Just enough chaos to keep the country poor and underdeveloped, while the rich get richer.

I know your efforts have not borne much fruit because of fifth columnists in your cabinet. Familiar enemies sit around you with an agenda to sabotage your leadership. Their goal is to keep you working hard without results, to tarnish your image even if you have good intentions. But I believe their time will soon be up. Maybe that’s how the country was designed—to serve only colonial agents and their collaborators.

Mr. President, I urge you: be bold. Be courageous. Take a stand for the liberation of your people. Break the chains that have held your people captive for so long. Never back down. Never give in. Do all you can to bring both political and economic freedom to your people—and they will celebrate you long after you are gone.

Thank you for your rapt attention.
