What the Heck Putin Wants From Ukraine? The Inside Story (Part 1)

I hope you’re not surprised that I’m discussing politics. Though I’m not a politician yet, but I’m very much interested in politics, because I know how crucial it is in our society. You will believe with me that everything in our world today is ruled by politics. If you are not sure, look at the location where you are, and you will see politics at work. The economy, the security, the infrastructure, the people’s welfare – mention it! are all determined by the politics of a nation.

Now, to the topic, what does President Putin want from Ukraine? The simple answer is his territory. He wants to keep his territory. And since Ukraine is part of his territory, he wants Ukraine. But how? Ukraine is an independent nation, why would Putin want Ukraine? To understand this, let’s look a bit of history.

We all know Ukraine was part of the formal Soviet block since 1922. But in 1991, it became independent alongside with other Soviet States. But these States are still connected in a way. They still have the old ties that bond them together, including economic supports and military alliance. And also, most of the people have the same ancestral origin. They are Slavic people. In fact, President Putin has once said - "Russians and Ukrainians are one people."

And major developments took place during the Soviet Era in many of the old Soviet States which included Ukraine. And Russia was the major stakeholder in this, with the capital of the Union being Moscow.

Recently, I was talking with my Ukrainian friend, and he said – “I understood Putin very well. He has the right course. Though he’s not good or bad to me, but I think he has a good claim for what he’s fighting for, because most of the developments in Ukraine were done during the old Soviet days. And it was the joint efforts of the Soviet citizens that built most of the old buildings, metros, industries, technology and other infrastructures in Ukraine. So, Russia has made a lot of investments in Ukraine than to just give it out like that to its opponent.”

I understood what my friend was talking about.

Now, that Ukraine is planning to join European Union and NATO, it’s giving a bad signal to Russia because Russia doesn’t want any NATO member to be close to its border. It wants to protect its territory. NATO is essentially a military alliance, which if Ukraine becomes a member, it would have some of NATO army in its country, which is a red flag for Russia. So Putin wants to do everything in his power to make sure he protects his territory by all means and avoid any western invasion into his neighborhood.

We know right from when nations were established in about four to five centuries ago, that they all have their different core values that their nations were built on and they stuck to. We know the West is essentially a capitalist system and the East is essentially a communist/socialist system. So, these two systems have different core values and political agenda. And both are opposition to each other. So, now it makes sense that Putin, on sighting that Ukraine is planning to join EU and NATO, he’s planning to invade it and prevent its opposition from entering into its territory.

So far, there have been discussions, both political and otherwise, about the tension that is building up at the Ukraine borders and the imminent invasion of the Russian troops into Ukraine. What we hope is that the matter would be resolved amicably and both parties would reach a comprise that would favor development and progress in our nations and the world at large.

Be An Author Challenge (Part 22) –The Stories I've Never Shared

The more I come across people’s stories, the more I want to hear those stories. It is just so amazing. Imagine the number of people in the world, everyone with different stories and experiences about life. How lovely is it to hear people share their story. From the good ones to the bad ones, and to the surprising ones, and to the devastating ones. Different people, different stories. Stories in life make life interesting.

I love the courage that people have to share their stories and how they allow others to learn from them.  We would never be tired of hearing stories. Stories make the world go around. And we value people and life because of them.

In these past few days, I've come across stories that were shocking to hear. And I wondered if it's the same world that I'm in, that those people are too. It's really an eye-opening adventure, and getting to  understand about life and people.

I’ve got couple of personal stories I would love to share any time, any day.

1. The story of how I was poisoned and almost died in the hospital and had a surgical operation for over 7 hours.

2. The story of how I had delay with my university admission and thought of committing suicide.

3. The story of how my father died, and there was no hope or help from anywhere.

4. The story of how I came to Ukraine with a group of medical students despite all oppositions.

5. The story of my 10 years in medical school.

6. The story of how I struggled with masturbation.

7. The story of how I started my food business, and

8. The story of how I met my future wife.

And more stories would be coming up. Just don’t laugh! You can share yours. In the mean time, I planned to document all of these stories and share them with those that will need them in the future.

Have a great time.

Be An Author Challenge (Part 21) —Shocking Ideas About Sharing Stories

“So you are talking about sharing stories, is that what we need now? When people are hungry and looking for what to eat. Nobody cares if you share story or write story. What is affecting most people now is not that. It is getting solution to their incessant problems. And the economy and situation of things in many of our countries now are not so good and highly devastating and annoying, why should you say people should be sharing their stories?”

If you’ve ever had this thought or just thinking about it, it’s a good way to challenge my thoughts and actions. Let me take this little time to explain further and build on my previous article (if you've not read it, read it up here https://sopiensofgod.blogspot.com/2022/01/be-author-challenge-part-19-why-im.html). First of all, understanding what I’m doing is very important and its relevance to our present day world. Of course, I’m aware of those facts pointed above and I’m not insensitive to the current needs of our people. But you know what? This thing I’m doing is important and I will show you how.

Imagine someone has financial challenge right now and he’s looking for what to do or how he’s going to solve his problem, if he’s opportuned to read or hear someone’s story of how they solve their own financial problem, probably that may help him in solving his own problem. Or in another way, if he shares the story of what he’s going through, probably someone might come to his aid. I know you might say –“but that doesn’t work all the time.” Yes! But the fact still remain that the story has been shared, and if it has been shared, it has been half-solved.

I remember sometimes I was in a fix, and it looks like solution was difficult to achieve. I thought - "what would I do?" Then, I picked my phone and called my friend. I shared the story of what I was going through with him and how much I believed solution would come. Lo and behold, before the next day, I had got solution to that problem. I was shocked. I didn't know it would come that fast. I subsequently repeated that same thing and had the same results.

Many don’t know the secret of sharing a story. They think it’s just the usual thing or for the sake of formality. They don’t know it’s a principle. Every story you share is every story you half-solved. For the fact that you release it from inside and make it known to the universe makes its power available to you, and help you. You don’t need to worry about who you tell (if it’s not an issue for you) or who hears it. All you need is to be genuine in your heart and be opened enough to receive solution. If you have any problem you are going through, you want the universe to hear by sharing it with people. There is power in your voice. And there’s power in sharing your story.

What many of us don’t understand yet is that story is still the number one factor that is holding every belief system in our world. Let me say that in another way, our world only exists today because of stories. Human species would have gone out of relevance and would have been subdued by wild animals and nature if not for story. Story brings man together. Story makes man do great things together. In fact, story puts all the structures, the institutions, the organizations, and the societies in place. I wish you know the power of story, let alone the power of sharing it.

If I ask you to share your story or share with you other people’s stories, I’m contributing to helping you see more lights and understanding life from other people's perspectives, and how to solve problems learning from others, and also getting the motivation you need to share your own. I’ve realized one thing, human beings are essentially the same on the level of nature. Many things that we think are personal are not. We humans are absolutely the same in many ways. We all have the same human feelings and we basically go through the same situations and experience.

Just the fact that you’ve not heard someone mentioned your story before doesn’t mean nobody has gone through what you are going through. Many people would have gone through it, but because they didn’t share it, you couldn’t benefit from it, and if you don’t share yours too, it will remain elusive and unbeneficial for those who might have the same situation later in future.

No matter what you are going through today, I’ll like to encourage you that there’s light at the end of the tunnel. Though you may not see it now, because of where you are, but I promise you that you will see it if you keep moving. And that is the value of hearing other people’s stories. You will know what you don't know. Because they've gone through what you are going through, sharing their story with you will benefit you.

Relax, it’s not as difficult as you think, and solution would come at the end of the day. You will know the right thing to do, and walk in the right way. I see you making your life better and moving forward in the journey of purpose. Sit back, and enjoy the journey of your life. Thank you for your time.

Be An Author Challenge (Part 20) — Why I Ask You to Share Your Story

Recently, someone asked me – “why are you asking people to share their story?” I said – “two things; for themselves and for other people.” For themselves because when you share your story, you feel the feelings, the memories, the emotions, the life that you have lived and you're still living, and the connection and attraction that builds love with people. You sometimes feel something unique within you that is difficult to explain. Depending on the story you share, whether it’s a happy or sad one, you feel calm within yourself that you’ve done something right and valuable to others.

And going further, if you need help, you get help. If you need support, you get support. Sharing your story is an easy way to share your life with people and let them know what you have gone through or going through. It’s not good to die in silence. People can only help when you open up and share your story. Though, some may find this risky, maybe because of their experience or because of what they've heard other people said.

But what I would say is find someone reliable to share your story with, if it’s not what you want to share in the public. Or better still, change the name or make it anonymous. Nobody is going to crucify you for it. They say problem shared is half-solved. A story you don’t share is a story that would remain unshared and unappreciated, and on the long run, it could end as a regret when you feel later like you should have shared it.

The second part of the reasons why you should share your story is for people. You should share your story so that it can benefit other people. I've said this couple of times in my previous articles. People actually appreciate those who share their stories more than those who don’t. They feel more connected and attracted to them. And if people are also going through the same thing, they feel like they’ve found someone who could help them through their own situation. Think of some of the people that you respect most, many of them would be those who have shared their stories or experiences with you.

You don’t need to feel ashamed of your story. Go ahead and share it. For the fact that you are bold enough to share your story is a big plus to you. And people, sooner or later, would appreciate you for it, and forget those who didn’t share their own stories. Because stories stick into our minds. We remember faster and easier, depending on the strength of the emotions involved and the lessons we learned.

I encourage you today to look back and see what story in your life you would love to share with someone today and would be of benefit to you and to them. Write it down. Record it. Discuss it with your family or friends. And you will see how fulfilling and amazing it is. I appreciate your time.

Be An Author Challenge (Part 19) — My Story of 2021

First of all, Happy New Year! Welcome to 2022. Talking about the past year 2021, there were a lot of things that happened. For me, it was an extraordinary year. A year that made some landmarks in my life. I started off the year by pivoting a little bit from my food business and focused on writing. I was sometimes taking food orders but put most of my time to writing and studying.

You may wonder why? I realized two things. First, I needed to document some important things (in form of ideas and knowledge) I’ve got in certain areas. Second, I had a great spur to create an awareness about writing and documenting our lives. I’ve noticed that life is only lived once and many people have lived their lives undocumented. The result? they were quickly forgotten and remained elusive and unappreciated in the book of history.

There were many people that have lived that we had no idea about their lives, especially in Africa where I came from. Their path on earth was like a snake moving on the rock that made no landmark. So I knew I had an assignment to let people know how crucial it is to document their lives and share their stories.

If you’ve been following my posts on social media, you would see many of my posts focused on documenting your life and sharing your stories. I created a "BE AN AUTHOR CHALLENGE" where I share why you must be an author and share your stories. Because I believe everyone is an author. (Being an author means you have something to share).

In the first month of the year, I released my third book- 13 Opportunities In Ukraine; An Inside Scoop to all that Ukraine has got to offer. Many people told me they loved the book. Subsequently, I wrote 7 more books; 4 for myself, and 3 for people. In all of these, I found 2021 fulfilling and awesome. Though I had couple of expectations for the year, some were achieved, and others I’m looking forward to their fruition. Notwithstanding, I thank God for how far I've gone.

I can’t wait to see what this new year has in store for me, and for you too, my dear reader. I hope this new year will be a year that will bring you to a new level of success and progress. You will do well this year, better than last year and all of your dreams and visions will get more clarity and purpose. You will be fulfilled in all you do and continue to be happy and live in health and wealth. I wish you all the very best in the new year. Hearty cheers!
