Activities, Achievements & Fulfillment

Activities without achievement is a waste of time. Achievements without fulfillment is a waste of life.

Every activity you perform must be focused on achieving something. From brushing your teeth every morning to going to work every day, there’s an achievement associated with every activity.

Your activity can be about your relationship, your family, your work, your business, your health, your studies, or your life.

You must gear it towards achieving something if you want to give value to your time. And really, there are many things that we do that are already giving value to our time. But we are not focusing on achievement.

For example, things that you’ve gone through in life over the years have fetched you some wisdom and ideas that could bless a life if and only if you share them, maybe in a book (which is an achievement) or in a documented talk.

You can make achievement out of everything you’ve gone through in life, even the bad ones. No regrets. The only regret would be not knowing how to turn your mess into a message.

No matter what you have done in your past, you can make it valuable. What you’ve experienced is hard to come by. Money cannot buy it. But time has handed it over to you free of charge.

Make move to change someone’s life today and you’re already blessed for doing so. Achievement can make you happy. But fulfillment can make you happier and keeps you in it. You are ever and ever grateful for life.

There Is Happiness In Giving

There is happiness in giving. I can say that a million times. Every time you give, someone is happy and you are also happy.

Giving should be done freely and with understanding.

There are people who take advantage of people’s generosity and milk them of their resources.

Use discernment!

By gut, you can know those who genuinely need your help and those who don’t. Even if you give to those who don’t, but deceived you they do, you will still get rewards because of the genuineness of your heart.

I hear some people say if you give someone something, they will charm you or cast a spell on you. That’s not true. It’s a strategy from the greedy folks who want to be rich from your resources and keep others poor.

When you give, no evil will happen to you. You are at the upper hand. You are guided and protected. Nature is in agreement with your action and God himself supports what you are doing. So, how can evil happen to you? Or how can you be poor?

It’s absolutely impossible!

There is satisfaction in giving. There is unspeakable joy in giving. If you have opportunity to give, why won’t you give.

You’ve been given all that you have. The life in you is an evidence that you’ve been given everything.

When you have life, you have everything. And having everything means you can give anything.

Challenges With Mental Health & the Solutions

Challenge with mental health is often common among us than we would ever imagine. Many of us tend to keep a lot of things to ourselves. We don’t want to bother other people. Or they will not understand! So, no need to tell them.

What we are going through could be so painful and heart-aching, that we could swing into depression or mental disorder. Life can be so hard and dealing with issues can be so overwhelming.

Any saving grace?

Yes, depending on the peculiarity of your situation. If you’re someone comfortable with talking to people, find someone reliable to share your burden with. If no one, talk to yourself. Your best bet in any situation is yourself.

Find the right confessions and start making them into your life. Move your body. Change your position. When you move your body, you move your mind. When you move your mind, you change your mental state. So, go for a walk. Go to the gym. Get to meet some people. Go to events. You’ll be happy you did.

A Man!

A man —an embodiment of God’s foundation on earth. God’s authority on earth, that manages the activities and events of life. He has a drive that does not only make things happen but also changes what happens. He has a testis that does not only produce testosterone but also produces testament that testifies the earth. He has a mind that does not only see the future (what will happen), but also creates the picture (what will happen).

He has a mission that does not only achieve the vision but also promote/propagate/propel the passion

He has a body that cannot only withstand pressure, but can also project pleasure. He has a hand that is not only skillful in labor but also dignified in favor, mighty in battle, cheerful in giving, generous in giving

He has an energy which is not only for carrying weight but also for handling responsibilities.

He has a willpower which is not only for getting things done but also for making headway in life.

A man! How well do you know him and how much can you value him. He’s a boldness. He’s a pride. And he’s all that gives life and supports/protects it.

A Woman!

Embodiment of grace and power— that’s what a woman is.

Look at her. And examine her and you’ll understand what I’m talking about.

She has a womb that is not only for conceiving a baby but also for conceiving ideas. She has senses which are not only smart for physical sensations but also great for emotional intelligence.

She has a mind which does not only remember what has happened, but also prepares for what will happen.

She has a strength which does not only withstand pains and adversities, but also carries will and progress.

She has a body which does not only emanate beauty, but also epitomizes love.

A woman! How much can you value her and how much can you pay for her worth?

She can move on. She can endure. She can conserve and preserve and reserve and for sure deserve all of what she had been made and created for.

The Moment You Cross that Borderline

The moment you cross that borderline, we are not going to know whether you are black or white.

The moment you cross that borderline, we are not going to know whether you are rich or poor.

The moment you cross that borderline, we are not going to know which country you are from.

I say, the moment you cross that borderline, we are not going to know whether you had everything or you had nothing.

The only thing we’re going to know, is whether you are truly fulfilled on earth or not.

Remember this!

10 New Realities About Religion

A good number of young people around the world have understood certain things about religion.

First, religiosity is not spirituality.

Second, religion is more of control than worship.

Third, religious people are the most difficult and judgmental people in the world.

Fourth, religion is more of politics than service.

Fifth, religion is an instrument of colonization and building individual’s empires.

Sixth, religion is for polarizing and bringing divisions among people than of uniting them.

Seventh, religion was created by man and not by God.

Eighth, religion is more of performance and show off than anything personal or private.

Ninth, religion has killed more people than it has saved them.

Tenth, religion is a tool in the hand of the oppressor.

Understanding all of these will help in decolonizing your mind from all the shackles and mackles of religion.

Religion, for hundreds of years has been a major instrument in the hands of oppressors and colonizers for controlling and manipulating people.

Understanding God has nothing to do with religion. It is a personal thing and not a religious thing.

My Father!

My father (Isaac Olugbenga Owoeye) —What can I say? You were the only father I knew. A man of grace and strength, down to earth, loving people and so endearing.

Your humility, gentleness, generosity and lovingkindness are testament to your big heart. You were indeed a father. The one who took the education of his children seriously and cared a lot about other children, even when you have to make sacrifice for it.

You taught us how to trust God, even in difficult situations, and how to love people, even when it’s difficult to. You taught us how to be strong and stand against injustice. You loved peace but you hated wickedness.

Your life and values are what we celebrate today. Thank God for the life you lived and the legacy you left behind. We’ll continue to celebrate you and thank God for the life you lived on earth.

Continue to rest in the bosom of Christ where we will meet to part no more. Love you Dad!

Isaac Olugbenga Owoeye (Sept.28,1958-Jan.13,2011)

Allow Love to Grow!

So, when we talk about love, people always put their minds on big things. When someone says, for instance – "I love you" . You could be like - "how do you mean you love me when you’ve not even shown half percent of love." But it's not about the action first, but the heart.

Now, the idea is this- when someone says they love you, accept it, until they do otherwise. Don’t place love on too much pedestal that you reject people’s love. The idea about love is - it always starts as a seed. It always start as a small thing, usually things that people don’t count. But it means a lot.

So, when someone is trying to express that small thing, don’t ridicule it. Don't say it's nothing, because that is what will become a big tree.

Don’t despise the days of small beginnings. The small love you despise today could be what will become a big happiness for you tomorrow. When love starts growing as a seed, don’t kill it. Don’t ridicule it. Allow it to grow!

The seed of love that is in people’s heart and they are expressing to you, let it grow, let it do well.

Allow people to express their love to you. Don’t close your heart.

You know it actually takes time for love to grow, just as it takes time for seed to grow. While that love is growing, give it time, it will become a huge tree that will manifest many fruits that you’ve been looking for.

What Studying Human Body For 10 Years Has Taught Me

Studying human body for 10 good years taught me one great lesson —every part of the body is important. From the smallest to the biggest, irrespective of the location, size or function, every cell and organ in the body is important. And that is similar to we human beings.

Everyone of us is important. It sounds like cliché but it is not. Because we are being pulled into negative thoughts everyday of believing who we are not. We see people and we wished we were them. We see things and we wished they were ours.

But we often forget we are as equally important as other people that we see. We forget that though they may have a big role, we also have a role, and it doesn’t matter if the role is big or small. What is important is everyone has a role.

We are all members of a big body, everyone belonging to different parts. The point is – you should face your own business. If you are a cell inside the body, don’t envy the one outside the body. If you are a cell for contraction, don’t envy the one for secretion. Because you surely have different structure and function.

And so, you must seek to express yourself and not others, because that is what you have been given grace to do. That is what you have been given capacity to perform. Find like minds and connect with them. Look for cells like yours and from a formidable tissue (team).

Learning from human body is such a long-term experience for me that I would never forget.

The Feeling of Discontentment

There’s just this feeling— the feeling of discontentment and dissatisfaction about what is going on in life. The feeling that money or any other material things cannot satisfy. The feeling that positions, power, or achievements cannot fill.

We still feel something is missing!

We feel we are not doing our best and performing up to the level that our inner being much expected. We are worried and bothered day and night. We are troubled by the fact that our life and time are wasting away and we’ve not done much. There are still a lot to do.

How do we handle this pressure? And how do we cover the time we’ve wasted?

Perhaps, there’s one simple thing to do —take a pause and breathe.

After all the distractions and disturbances, there is one thing important —realignment. Connect back to your inner self. And feel the energy and life in your spirit. You will see light and happiness will be yours.

30 Poverty Mindsets

Poverty mindsets keep people poor. People are not able to think right or rich when they are locked inside these mindsets. The poor have both counterproductive and negative mindsets that stop them from getting rich. Until they are brainwashed from these mindsets, they remain poor. Let’s take a look at some of these mindsets (thirty of them).

1. You need money to make money: You don’t need money to money. You need knowledge. When you are starting out in your pursuit to make money, the first thing you go for is knowledge, because if you get money without knowledge, you will lose that money for sure. So, it is a poverty mindset to think that you need money to make money. That puts you in a state of lack and in need of people’s help, before you can make it. Go for knowledge first, and you will know how to make money and keep it.

2. Most rich people are fraudulent: The poor say this to envy the rich and justify their poverty. Being rich and fraudulent are two different things that shouldn’t be compared together. Fraudulence is a problem of character. Being rich is a matter of knowledge. Anybody can be fraudulent and anybody can be rich. So, if you can be rich without being fraudulent and you can be fraudulent without being rich. It is individual’s choice. And this doesn’t make all rich individual fraudulent.

3. Money cannot make you happy: This is another one from the poor. They always say money cannot make you happy. But, can poverty? One thing is certain, if you have money, you would be happier and more comfortable. You would enjoy a good life.

4. Money is scarce in the world, there’s no money: This is not true. Money is abundant in the world. So much that we cannot exhaust it. In fact, more are being printed everyday, so we will never run out of it. But because the poor is looking for ways to justify his poverty, he says that money is scarce in the world, whereas, he has taken his time to find where it is.

5. I don’t have option: The poor think they don’t have option- there’s nothing they can do, they just have to take the offer. Whereas, that’s not true. It’s because they’ve not explored all the opportunities that they have. They’ve not taken enough time to find what they want. They just want immediate blessing without efforts. That’s why they are still poor.

6. Money is not everything: This stems from a poverty mindset to demean the value of money, and say money is not everything. Of course, money is not everything, but can you live without money or a medium of exchange? No! Money is an essential tool and it must be taken as such.

7. We can die anytime, No need to prepare for tomorrow: If you see the poor taking life with levity, this is one of the mindsets. They simply believe death can come anytime, so there’s no need to prepare for tomorrow and do anything today. Just find what you can eat for today and hope death would come anytime. Why do you want to prepare for tomorrow that you are not sure if it would come. It’s better to stay hungry and clueless if that tomorrow still comes, than to plan ahead and take hold of your future- advice from a sincere poor.

8. I prefer to receive than to give: The poor, for sure, prefer to receive than to give. That’s why they feel entitled to receive help from the rich. They believe they are the ones who supposed to be helped. They are the ones who government supposed to give scholarships and free money. That’s the poor. They feel entitled for everything and that’s why they remain poor.

9. I have no plans. I trust God for everything: This is when you are talking to a poor that is religious and at the same time irresponsible. He simply believes that it is God that suppose to make plans for him or at least tell him what to do. Whereas, God has given everyone the mandate to be fruitful and multiply and dominate the earth. The poor is still asking what he should do, while the rich is busy doing it.

10. Money is more important than time: The poor prefers money to time. the reason is simple – he can’t see beyond now. All he knows is now, and so, anything that would satisfy his immediate gratification would go well with him. The poor values money more than time because he can easily take money to the market and buy all he wants and consume it, and come back being poor again. This is after he has wasted his time on those mundane things that would contribute no value to his future.

11. Governments cannot be trusted and politicians are thieves: The poor are among the most cynical and skeptical people in the world. They don’t believe their leaders and always think that those leaders are out there to swindle them and steal their money. So, it is difficult for them to believe their leaders and support them in their political duties and responsibilities.

12. It is better to save money in banks than to risk it in investments: The poor don’t like taking risks. They rather put their money in banks than to go and risk it in investments. They believe that investments are the easiest way to lose money and so, the best place to keep your money safe is in the bank. But in the bank, the money depreciates and the buying power plunges.

13. Collect all the money you can collect now from people: The poor believes in taking advantage of every moment in a negative way. They believe that they always have one chance with anyone, and so, they would try every means to collect money from that person or cheat on them. If the poor is in business, he would always make everyone that comes to him pay more than it’s required, so that in case the person doesn’t come again, he’s already collected all the money he wanted to collect. But what he doesn’t know is that he’s sending bad signal to everyone that comes to him, which would naturally make any of them not to come to him again and even tell their friends also not to patronize him. So, he eventually close down his business when he’s not making money because of his bad attitude. That is a poverty mindset.

14. Making money is about going to a rich country: For the poor, making money is about going to a rich country. It is about finding a greener pasture. Whereas, there are people in the same country that the poor are in that are rich. Though, location can make becoming rich faster and easier, it doesn’t mean it is automatic. The same principle to become rich is applicable anywhere in the world. There are people in rich countries who are poor and there are people in poor countries who are rich. So, it is not change of location that absolutely change one’s financial status but change of mindset.

15. I’ve tried my best. I cannot do more than this: The poor gives excuse about his capacity. He’s done his best, he cannot try anymore. But this is not true. Because no one has done their best yet. Everyone is putting in the hardwork everyday to get better and stronger, but not reached the pinnacle yet. For the poor, he’s so limited in his thinking and his capability. He thinks he has put in his best when he can do more, and even far more.

16. It’s a sin to be rich or If you are too rich, you may go to hell fire: This is from the poor religious bigots. They believe that being rich is a sin and it’s a ticket to going to hell fire. But there’s no connection between being rich and going to hell fire. The popular scripture that the love of money is the root of all evil, and that it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for the rich to enter the kingdom of God are the common scriptural references. But these scriptures are in no way contradicting becoming rich, as it is well written in the Bible and other holy books that prosperity is God’s desire for his children. And many prophets and God’s servants in the Bible are rich. Those scriptures quoted talks about mismanagement of money and riches and their consequence. Not that the art of getting rich is abhorrent to God or would make anyone go to hell fire.

17. I’m not lucky. I don’t have the opportunities that others have: Part of the excuses that the poor gives is the fact that he’s not lucky and so doesn’t have the opportunities that others have. He doesn’t have good family. He doesn’t have good friends. He doesn’t have good education. He’s living in a poor country. His government and every institution around him are bad and so on. He just believed he’s not privy to what others have. But all of these don’t matter. There are people who don’t have any of these and still became rich. There are people who don’t have opportunities and are not lucky and still make the best out of their situation and succeed. In as much as there are obstacles and challenges, it is not impossible to thrive and become rich in any setting if one is committed and ready to give it all it takes.

18. Life is short. Why struggle or work hard to make it? The poor says life is short. But he’s still alive and he’s not going to die very soon. But just to excuse his laziness and unwillingness to break free from poverty, he says life is short. If life is short, should it be lived in poverty and lack? Should it be lived in deep suffering and embarrassment? There’s no excuse for poverty. if you want to be rich, you must work hard and be committed. You must not be clogged with the poverty mindset of life is short. That’s not your business. All you want to do is to create a good life for yourself, your loved ones and the world. So, the number of years that you live here doesn’t matter, but the quality and value that those years brought to the world.

19. We are all pretenders and hypocrites. Everyone has something bad they are doing: This is another one from the poor. That is from the fact that they always pretend as who they are not, so that people will not know their true status. They pretend as though they are rich, flaunt the money that they don’t have, buy the car that they can’t maintain and do things that would put them in perpetual debt. That’s the poor for you. They simply hide their personality and take up the personality of those around them to feel among and appreciated. But this is an easy way to live a tragic and frustrated life. It is better to take off the cloak of hypocrisy and put on a new garment of humility and freedom, and walk their way to wealth.

20. What’s in it for me? The poor asks this every time- what’s in it for me? It is because the poor can’t think of any of other thing apart from himself. He can’t see any other person that should benefit from something except him. In fact, as far as he’s okay, every other person is okay. He’s money driven and materialistic. And of course, covetous and greedy. Always willing to take what belongs to others. Although, by human nature, it is normal to care about yourself. Know what would be your gain if you are involved in something, but the poor just takes his own to the extreme and always want to take advantage of every situation in a negative way. he doesn’t care what happens to other people as far as he’s satisfied. That’s not good enough and it’s a poverty mindset.

21. Nobody loves me or Everybody hates me: This is another poverty mindset. Why? Because the poor always feel that he’s lacking something. He feels that people should give him something rather than him giving people something. Instead of thinking nobody loves you or everybody hates you, why not think I want to love everybody or I don’t want to hate anybody. Poverty makes people to feel entitled and puts them at the receiving end, while rich mindset puts people at the giving end. When you are a giver, you are in control of situations. When you are a receiver, people or circumstances are in control of you. Again, being a receiver puts you at the mercy of life. Whereas, being a giver puts you at the mastery of life.

22. Your success is measured by how much money you have, not how much lives you’ve impacted: The poor is money-driven. And everything that he thinks and talks about is money. He doesn’t know any other thing apart from money. Even, when you talk about more important things in life that are not related to money, the poor uses money to judge. Because, for him, it’s all about how much money you have. It’s a distorted way of viewing money. When it comes to success in life, the poor measures everything by money, not by impact. So, a poor can have so much money in his bank account, and many people around him are still going hungry. People can be dying around him everyday because of sickness that money can solve. But the poor would not just care about people’s lives when it comes to his money. Because, for him, it’s all about how much money you have in your bank account, not how much impact you’ve made in people’s lives.

23. Money is everything. If you have money, you have everything: This is related to the mindset above. For the poor, money is everything. If you have money, you have everything. This is an imbalance way of viewing money. The poor is always on the extremes. He’s either thinking too much about money and making everything about his life money, or he’s not thinking about money at all and make nothing about his life money. He’s just not getting it right when it comes to money matters. While the rich sees money as an essential tool, that one must take charge of and use for their purpose, the poor sees money as everything that would take charge of one’s life and become drunk or intoxicated by it.

24. You don’t need to work if you have all the money that you need: The poor says that you don’t need to work if you have all the money that you need. Where is this mindset coming from? It’s coming from a lazy mind, a mind that doesn’t want to work, that all it cares about is pleasure without purpose. For the rich, it is work that gives money value, not money that gives work value. The rich stays rich and gets richer because he works and keeps working. The poor stays poor and poorer because he doesn’t want to work. He sees work as a burden or a struggle. But everything in nature works. From what we can see around us to what happen within us, everything is working, otherwise we would not be alive. If your heart is not working, you will not be alive. Likewise your lungs, liver, brain, kidneys and other vital organs in your body. Imagine the sun stops working, or the air stops moving, or the plants stop growing. You know humanity is close to death. We would not be alive because these elements are not working. Likewise us as human beings, we must work to maintain this earth and keep things working. Nature is against laziness and feebleness. We must work to live and manifest our purpose to the world. So, it’s not all about money. Money comes as a reward for our efforts. It doesn’t make it all what we need. We need work!

25. A secured job is better than a business: The poor is afraid of the future. He doesn’t want to take any risk and always look for security instead of freedom. He’s never free in his mind. He believes that once he gets a secured job, That’s all he needs to be happy in life. He doesn’t need to worry about freedom. He’s just satisfied with being secured with a job. But what he doesn’t understand is that there’s no secured job. And true financial security doesn’t come from a secured job, rather, it comes from financial freedom. When you are truly free in your mind on money matters, that’s when you are secured financially. Business makes you inculcate some skills that are essential for financial freedom. So, if you can succeed in business, you can succeed at life, and everything money matters. All these, job may not be able to afford you.

26. One day of favor is better than many years of labor: This is another crap from the poor. He waits for miracles, while he’s there doing nothing. He believes one financial breakthrough can solve all his money problems. He justifies laziness on religious superstitions. We know it is diligence and consistent hardwork that produce result, not just a mere wish of favor or blessing. God has already blessed everyone of us. so, it’s our duty now to work and take full responsibility over our life. Nothing works except we work and it’s totally wrong and against nature to always be looking for miracles. Because we are not created by miracles or for miracles. But we are created by principles and must follow principles to live a happy and successful life.

27. Miracles work better than principles: This is similar to the point above. The poor believes that miracles work better than principles. Why? Because he’s always looking for shortcuts. He always want to cut corners and do nothing, but wish everything could come to him. Whereas, the rich believes that nothing is free, and must be worked for, if it’s going to be earned and last. Principles make us live an organized and predictable life. We know how our future would be, thanks to principles. This makes the rich to always succeed and flourish everywhere he goes, because principles are universal and the same anywhere in the world.

28. Being rich is a fate or blessing from God: The poor subjects his responsibility to God. He thinks it’s God or fate that would make him rich. That’s a good excuse to be poor. At least, it’s beyond his control. But how about he knows that being rich has nothing to do with fate or God? How about he understands that God and the universe are in support of his financial success here on earth? All he’s got to do is to take responsibility and learn the principles of how to become rich and put them to work. The rich is not subjecting his responsibility to no other thing apart from himself and that’s why he’s rich because he’s in full control of his life and circumstances.

29. Everything is expensive. It is expensive to live a healthy life: For the poor, everything is expensive, even the things that are not. The problem with this is that he simply cuts all his spendings and become unnecessary frugal and stingy. He buys less quality things, including what he eats and drinks. He ended up shortchanging himself when he jeopardizes his health and has to spend a lot to treat himself and come back to live. the little money that he would have spent on buying quality food has been doubled or tripled on buying drugs and treatment bills. The poor doesn’t know that the money that he’s not willing to spend now, would be doubled later, and paid by force. So, he’s always whining and complaining that everything is expensive, while he has the choice to make his life better by earning more money and being free from money scarcity mindset.

30. I cannot afford it: After complaining about how expensive things are, he ended up saying “I cannot afford it.” Whereas, the rich says- “how can I afford it?” The difference is that the poor puts his brain to sleep and close the discussion on how he can get what he wants while the rich puts his brain to work and open the discussion on how he can get what he wants. No wonder the rich always gets what he wants, while the poor keeps complaining about the price, and he ended up in lack. There’s more than enough to go around. If and only if the poor would dare to change his mindset and see possibility in whatsoever he wants to achieve, he would be more than happy to live and enjoy a good life.

What 34 Years of Life Has Taught Me

1. Time reveals a lot of things (even when you don’t ask)
2. What you think is right may not be.
3. Wasting time with people who don’t value you is like wasting life without you knowing.
4. You will always get what you want if you know how to get it.
5. There will always be miscellaneous in life- things that you don’t expect and prepare for. Both can be good or bad.
6. Worrying solves less problem. Taking action is the real deal.
7. No real success without some amount of risks.
8. I’ve learned to be patient.
9. Fear can be so hard, but when you take the first step, you feel a little bit relieved.
10. Love people, but don’t depend on them.
11. People do beyond your expectations when you limit your expectations on them.
12. Until you find out what people are really going through, don’t be in a hurry to judge them.
13. Double-check everything. You can’t be too sure about anything.
14. Begging for favor is creepy. Exchanging value is better.
15. Humility and patience will always get you anything you want in life.
16. The way you present yourself is the way people will approach you.
17. If people want to go, let them go.
18. There’s nothing like "I can’t do without you". Nobody is indispensable in your life.
19. You can do without someone, but you can’t do without people.
20. The moment you realize the truth, you should follow it immediately, even if you’ve gone far with lies. Treading wrong direction can never get you in the right destination.
21. Respect is not only reciprocal, it is personified.
22. If you don’t take risk, risk will take you.
23. It’s usually people who you don’t expect that help you in a time of need.
24. If people show you who they are once, believe them.
25. Life is by turn. When your turn comes, use it well so that you don't regret it later.
26. Life is sweet, if only you know how to enjoy it.
27. When you keep celebrating success, success will keep celebrating you.
28. Only life keeps hope alive. If there's life, for sure, there is hope!
29. Sometimes you have to summon courage to do some things. I mean, real courage!
30. You can never always be 100% RIGHT, and you can never always be 100% wrong.
31. Story of success is easy to share, but difficult to make.
32. The Africa I want to see is the Africa I've not seen.
33. Don't tell me how difficult life is, many people already said that. Tell me how easy it can be, not so many people talk about it.
34. You can't get what you want, if you don't value what you have.

Escape From Ukraine (The Untold Story)

On the 24th of February, 2022 there was a drastic change of normalcy. Of course, it started as a regular day. At 5 am, I was taking my time to study, before deciding to take a quick bathroom break. It was normal, until there was a deafening, extremely loud noise. Surely, the first thought that would come into the mind of any person in Ukraine at that time, would be that the Russians have finally invaded the country. The news of Russia threatening to attack was well known to everybody, but that moment was still shocking because nobody in that situation would have seen it coming. The predictions were that the issues between both countries would be settled amicably. It didn't work out that well.

From the very moment I heard the sound of the explosion, I knew that the Russians were In. The date still remains imprinted in my head, vivid and clear. Even though it was just 5 am when it happened, the streets had already become packed. Everybody began to run helter-skelter, in panic. Getting to places was a challenge because the roads were congested with traffic jams. The people just wanted to leave the country.

Meanwhile, the frequency of the bombs began to increase. The explosion became more frequent. Although, it was within hours of intervals. I had to go grocery shopping, preparing for what is to come. I wasn't so lucky because other people had already gone emergency shopping, but I was able to get some essentials regardless.

Upon getting home, we had to protect ourselves and remain underground, in a bomb shelter . It was a safer option, but a less convenient one. We still had to come up when some things had to be done, because there wasn't any comfortabilty when you're under the ground. The routine continued, and so did the bombs. At first, there was a reasonable pause, between the bomb explosions. But the pace increased quickly. It moved from hours to minutes almost rapidly. There was at least, one explosion within every two minutes.

On one of those days, I was having a bathe, unbothered by the sounds of the bombs because it sounded far away. Soon, it got closer by the second, making me hurry up to get dressed. Until it seemed as though there was an explosion right above my head. It was a mortifying incident, and a scary one too. I had to run from the fourth floor, to a safer spot underground.

I was living in Kyiv, and it was becoming more terrible as time went by. I knew I had to leave because it was becoming threatening. There were other people, living together, Ukrainians and some few Africans. We the Africans were planning to find a way out. There were no taxis, buses, or anything to aid our plans. Everything appeared to have collapsed. Adding insult to the injury, the roads we were to go through were destroyed. It was destroyed to stop the Russians from invading the city but it turned out to be futile after all. The Russians still invaded, and it simply made things worse for us who lived in the city, leaving us locked indoors. I was constantly thinking about how to leave, giving the situation at hand. We prayed, trusting God for something to happen.

During one of those days, we decided to leave the house. Coincidentally, it was also the day there was to be a peace talk between Russia and Ukraine. I heard some talks about there been a possibility of things getting worse. Russia did not care about was what to happen to the residents of Ukraine at that time. They wanted to bring the country down, and were going to do that at all cost. I saw that day as my only opportunity to leave.

Along with my fellow Africans, we took our things and left. From the building where we stayed, we traveled on foot for 3 whole hours. Eventually, we had to cross the destroyed bridge. There was a river, and we took a very risky move to go through. We had no other choice but to continue the journey by walking, as there were no vehicles to help us out. And even as we journeyed, we could still hear the sound of more explosions.

After hours of walking, we were able to get someone to take us to the train station. You need to get to the train station before you could go to another city. So, that's where we needed to be. Upon getting to the train station, there were tons of people there. All wanting to leave. Of course, at there point more priority will be placed on the citizens of the country. Especially mothers, and those with infants and new borns. We lucked out, and were not  able to get on that particular train, having to wait for the next one. After buying tickets, the next train took off with us safely inside.

The train ride took about 16 hours. It was a very serious situation as we traveled to the Western part of Ukraine. From there, to a different city, which led us to the country's border.

On the other side of the border, we were welcomed by the Hungarian government. After checking our documents, we were received and transported to the nearest city. It was a journey from there to the capital city. Currently, I stay in the capital city.

All along, God has been helping us. Myself and the entire team. It involved a lot of expenses, especially on transportation and tickets. But, we arrived safely in one piece, and without injuries. I'm really thankful for the Hungarians who were very welcoming and made the entire situation less of a problem.

I believe firmly that Ukraine will rise again, and gain its freedom back from the captivity of Russia and the Russian government.

Success Stories

★How I made my first million ★

Otolorin Kehinde Peter, known as Kenny Blaq, is a popular and reputable comedian and artiste.
His driving force has been his environment, where he comes from and the people around him. Kenny tended to have a lot of people around him that believed that a person can only be successful when they have money, connections or do things illegally.

Meanwhile, Kenny wanted the opposite. One of the things that kept him going, was the desire to make his family proud. To do things differently than his friends were doing. His major force, has been the yearning to be a good example to others.

His background didn't look very positive. After secondary, Kenny knew that all he wanted to do was become and artiste and entertainer. Performing in events, and keeping people entertained while getting paid. But, actualizing his dreams weren't as easy as it sounded. It took sacrifice and hardwork. There were days when it didn't work in his favor. Sometimes, the results he expected wouldn't be what was gotten.

Despite the hardwork he might have put into that performance. Of course, his friends and close associates thought he was crazy. A young guy who had his life ahead of him, decided to branch out and become a comedian. They questioned his choices, and so did his parents. Kenny's parents were worried about the kind of lifestyle he would live, if he became one of the top dogs in the entertainment industry. Kenny had to promise, that he would be better and not one of the typical artistes or entertainers.

At some point, he felt like giving up. With all the challenges along the way, his dreams now looked like an impossible feat. Sometimes, he got booed off the stage. And other times, he didn't have the strength to trek the long distance before getting to the event. People weren't even interested in paying to watch him perform because his jokes had become monotonous. But, everytime he wanted to give up a new inspiration pops up. It could be a new joke, or a new idea.

Music has also been a major inspiration for Kenny Blaq. On days when it seemed like there was mo hope, listening to music would help to keep his hope alive. Music also helped with his career. Rather than doing just comedy, he decided to branch into music comedy. It was a different aspect that helped him to earn recognition.

Kenny made his first million naira about five years ago. It was for an end of the year event, and he was called to perform. Before then, his rate was between 150-400k. That was because most people weren't willing to pay more than that. But for some reason, he was advised to ask for 1.5 million naira instead of the regular thousands of naira. The organizers said they couldn't pay up to that, but eventually both parties settled on one million. Kenny described the feeling as surreal. He couldn't believe that someone was willing to pay that much for his craft, and hustle. He wasn't even in the limelight then, but someone didn't mind and still paid that much.

That event opened doors to more jobs and events for him. Now, one million is way less than he would charge.

His greatest accomplishment, was his show at Eko Hotel. Prior to that day, a lot of people questioned why he wanted to do a show at Eko hotel. They believed that he wasn't reputable enough to pull off a show there, and it wouldn't work out well. But, on that day, the story changed. Two hours before the show, all the tickets had been sold out. Yet, the people outside were more than those inside. A lot of people went home upset that they weren't able to purchase a ticket. People of affluence and influence were in attendance, and Kenny saw that as the beginning of his spotlight.

According to Kenny, he would rather describe his success as grace, not luck. Luck didn't find him. Grace worked its way into his life.

★Fashion and styling in Nigeria ★

Jane Michael Ekanem is an award winning fashion stylist, and a reputable young woman in the fashion industry. Many people would see her success today, and wonder if it took hardwork for her to get to where she is today. Jane says that, it's not easy. It has not been easy, and would still not be easy. Of course, she has been through some things in order to get to where she is today. But, Jane sees all of that as a part of life. Afterall, you can't have a testimony without a test of time. You need to go through the process.

She started off in the fashion industry simply as a result of her passion. Then, Jane did most of her work for free. She would sell some clothes, and go from office to office teaching people how to wear these clothes. She didn't know that she was styling then, it was just a passion. Unlike now, Jane has monetized on the said passion. Back in the day, she had a partner and both of them transitioned into becoming professional stylists. They were the stylists for the show “MTN Project Fame”, and it helped them to see the line of business as something more professional.

Moving into becoming professionals as at the time they started, was quite easy. Luckily for them, there weren't many stylists them. You could count the number of them, unlike now where there are hundreds of fashion stylists. What set Jane and her partner above the rest, was their willingness to work. The were ready, and willing to do the work. Contradictory to their competitors, who simply acted like divas without wanting to do much. Not everybody would be willing to make the sacrifices she has made or even go through the stress she went through.

Most of the time, people focus on the glam and extravagant lifestyle without wanting to see the hardwork behind it. Jane has also had her fair share of challenges. She has been in the industry for over 13 years, and has also had some ups and downs along the way. There had been times when she wanted to quit, give up and never look back. But, thankfully she didn't. Things might still be a bit difficult, but it's easier and more tolerable.

Everything Jane has been doing evolved around creating. She always wanted to be more than just Jane Michael. She wanted to be something more, someone that people would look to up and admire. There's is always something to be done, and she tries to do it. At the end of the day, Jane ended up touching lives in the process. Which is quite admirable.

To Jane, her mistakes define her. Every single mistake she has made so far, serves as a testament for her success. For all her mistakes, there are lessons. And one of the lessons is that communication is key. For upcoming and aspiring stylists, they need to learn to communicate with their clients. There's a need to ask questions, and understand what their clients are comfortable with. The clients makes up the industry, and it's important to put then into consideration always.

In ten years time, Jane would like to have retired and still be making money. She doesn't have a definite plan for where she is going to be, ten years from now. But, she hopes it's somewhere comfortable, where she can do her own thing.

What IF…? – The Inside Story (Part 4)

The United States made a prediction that Russian soldiers would invade Ukraine on the 16th of Februrary, 2022. But the day ended without any invasion. So, it seems the U.S was raising unnecessary alarm or overblowing the alarm. But to justify their claim, they said Russian attack is still imminent. And while President Putin said his army are pulling back and de-escalating the Ukraine border, Biden said Putin is adding more military. So, who do we believe? Biden or Putin?

In this case, let’s consider 3 scenarios.

1. What IF what they are both saying is true? or

2. What IF what they are both saying is false? or

3. What IF one is true and the other is false?

So, let’s analyze them more critically.

1. What If They Are Both True?

The U.S has a strong intelligence and monitoring system that could know what is going on in Russia-Ukraine border, and for Biden to say more Russian soldiers are building up around the border could mean he has an evidence. If his evidence is true, it could mean Putin is trying to deceive the public so that he would launch the attack when no one is expecting. But if what Putin is saying is also true, it could mean he’s looking for the alternative to resolve the conflict without using war. But one thing is sure, he would not surrender his wish to the U.S, and he would not leave his territory into the hands of his enemies.

2. What If They Are Both False?

This could all be political propaganda. Both deceiving each other, and trying to play into each others’ hands. Biden may keep raising alarm to sell more weapons and do business. Putin may keep easing the tension to achieve his goals clandestinely. They both might have ulterior motives with their statements which are far different from what they are saying in the public. However, they may both hurt each other on the long run if they are both playing pranks.

3. What If One Is True And the Other Is False?

This is most likely. Biden might be false and Putin is true or Putin might be false and Biden is true. If the former is the case, it means Biden is a hypocrite who just want to make economic gains out of the whole Ukraine-Russia conflict. And he’s also reaching out to his allies who have business deals with Russia to increase their economic sanctions, so that Russia would give-in and buy-in to their western agenda. He wants to increase his east European influence so that he can have more supporters at his back to fight against China.

Ultimately, China is main deal. It is the major threat to U.S by far, both in military and economy, and also in democracy. So, the bid is all to garner more allies and defeat its number one enemy.

If on the other hand, Putin is the fibster, it would mean he’s trying to use guerilla warfare on Ukraine. He wants everyone to go to sleep while his army would suddenly attack Ukraine and take over the government. But it seems Putin is finding alternatives to solve his problems. He doesn’t want to take a chance with the West. So, he’s willing to extend his territory or at worst, maintain it. So, he’s giving it all it takes.

Meanwhile, all these are political scenarios which may play out or not. What we hope is that the conflict would not just be de-escalated but resolved finally so that there would not be any emergency cases in the future. And Ukraine would be at peace and the people would be at rest, and there would progress and development in our nations.

Why Africa Is Still So Poor (The Untold Story)

Africa is known for its poverty, but a lot of people don't know what led to this state. Some would think that it is because of colonization, corruption or foreign independence. There used to be a time when African countries were rich, like in the 14th century. Many would conclude that Africa has no history asides from that about mommies and pyramids.

On the contrary, Africa is much involved in history, as any other country in Europe. In the 14th and 15th century, Africa's property began to fall behind gap, from the rest of the world. This was caused by two different external forces, two empires. One needed slaves, and the easiest way to get those slaves was from East Africa. So, they would go into war with countries in the Eastern African. This slave trade process continued till the 19tu century.

The second empire, was the Western European empire. A similar thing was also happening with them. They began by going to Africa, to trade items. Soon, it escalated into taking a stop in Africa, whenever they were going to Asia. Later on, they went to East Asia and saw the Indie Americans. Afterwards, they set up colonies.

The system of government of the people in the East Asia was the same as that of the Europeans. Which involved the noble system of knights, dukes, peasants. There was slight hitch, the peasants were dying. And, a dying peasant, is an unproductive one. So, they needed to find a replacement, and dived into West African slave trade. Although, the kind of slave isn't the same way people think of it to be. Those slaves had rights, and a family structure. Sadly, African countries were happy to sell slaves to the Europeans because their gold mines were drying up during that time.

The African countries willing to sell slaves, would go into war with other African countries in order to get more slaves to sell. At that time, this seemed like a good deal for African leaders. They would weaken their rivals, and earn money at the same time. Soon, the slave market evolved from a market where slaves had rights, to one where people were stripped of their rights and sold to the highest bidder.

Slave traders would come to the continent, and go with as many slaves as possible for them to be sold to the Americans. These slaves would work their backs out. The slave traders also sold raw materials from Africa to the Europeans, who would use it to produce manufactured goods. The profit from this, would be used to buy more slaves.

It was a good deal for everybody, except the slaves. The Americans received slaves, the Europeans received raw materials, and the West Africans received manufactured goods. While the plight of the slaves remained not an issue to them. Whenever the Americans tried to take slaves by force, it would fail because Africans were still very strong. Over the centuries these African empires collapsed into different walls, and they were more than willing to sell their former slave partners as slaves to the Americans.

So, as their empires rose and fell, there were always merchants wanting to buy slaves. As the Europeans found more colonies in America, more slaves were needed. Unfortunately, these had a long term effect on the economy of Africa. While European, Asian and American industries developed, African industries stagnated. And soon, they could no longer compete with the rest of the world. The African industries soon became unimportant and small. Yet, the Africans continued to go along with this because, they couldn't invest in industries and had to protect themselves.

That was where all the economy was being diverted to. It didn't take long for the African economy to decline, while the people who bought slaves were having a better, more effective economy.
The Europeans and Americans continued to buy these slaves because it was opportunity for them to earn profits. These profits came at the expense of the long term wealth of Africans. With most of the people involved, not realizing this. When a region becomes weak, a stronger region would exploit from them.

In the 19th century, suddenly, African slave traders started to lose customers. This was because, Slave trade was becoming illegal around the world. For Africa, this became a problem because the economy of Africa relied on this slave trade. Since they didn't build up their industries because of the slave trade, they lost their main source of income. Africans could no longer buy many of the tools they relied on.

The 2nd significant event to happen in the 19th century was industrialization. Americans and Europeans, were starting to produce more than any other part of the world. Africa became very insignificant to them by the middle of the 19th century. This was when they started to see the worst in Africa, and spoke about their lack of culture, no system of government. Racist beliefs were also started. People now had little or no interest in Africa, as Africa had nothing to offer.

The third major event, was the ability for Americans and Europeans to carry heavy equipment across the sea. Before industrial revolution, it would have not being possible. But, with new technology it became easier and profitable. That was when the leader in Belgium, decided that Belgium should have a colony. Of course, Africa was available and now weak. So, once again the strong took advantage of the weak. Soon, all other European countries joined in to take over Africa to build their colonies.

There were major significant effects of the colonization. The first, was that it created a worse economy for Africans. They were driven out of the most fertile regions and given plantation to work on, while the colonial masters owned the profits. Most of the taxes paid by the Africans were rarely used to better their lives, but to make life worse for them.

The European colonizers were only interested in the exploitation of resources in Africa. Also, the infrastructure created by the Europeans in Africa, was simply to make exporting raw materials out of the continent convenient. None of it was made for the improvement of Africans.

After world War 2, Africans started demanding for their Independence. Protests, riots and rebellion was brought up. Until the Europeans realized that a few million European couldn't control more than 200 million Africans. Between 1945-1975, almost all African countries became independent. Africans thought that if Africans ruled Africa, then wealth would follow suit. But, this didn't happen.

History has shown that former colonies that some become developed, such as Ireland, New Zealand and South Korea. Yet, not a single African country can be called developed. This is because of the way that the colonizers left Africa. They left Africa with no skills, no connection to fellow African countries, and no good economy. There was no way to bring prosperity to African countries, but at the same time, the independent leaders of Africa promised to bring prosperity to Africa.

To fufil this promise, most African countries adopted an economic socialism system. The leaders hoped it would work, and help to build industries. But, it didn't. The restrictions didn't aid trade between African countries. Since no one was willing to buy, the industries couldn't flourish. Secondly, a centrally planned economy would have more difficulty in succeeding the market, rather than other economies, which has different industries competing with each other.

So a combination of trade restrictions, inefficient government, lack of education, harsh environment and diseases meant that the system was doomed to fail from the very beginning. There was simply no way for African countries to reach wealth at that time, because of the underdeveloped countries they inherited from their colonizers.

Despite the fact that economic socialism was a terrible system of governance, African leaders chose it, because that was the same method that their colonizers used. For them to switch to a free market system, they would need skilled workers and entrepreneurs and they didn't have it at that time.

This simply explained why Africa didn't get rich immediately after independence. But, after a few decades it should have been easy to build a better economy because, by that time African citizens would have quality education and skills. Yet, it didn't happen. This can be traced to the corruption of Post independence African leaders. Most African countries adopted a democratic system, but it wasn't functional because it was a recent system.

Due to this reason, politics became an affair in which the aspiring politicians focused on specific ethnic groups. Focusing on one ethnic group over the rest, divided Africans further. To prevent this, a single party system was created. But, over the years, the elites now dominated the party. Which wasn't much different from what happened when they were colonized. The elite Europeans dominated them, and then the Elite Africans dominated them afterwards. Still, the leaders were afraid of being overtaken during coups so they diverted the economy. The money meant for development of the country was diverted to pay government workers and keep them happy enough not to start a coup.

At some point, corruption dug in deeper than everybody expected. Any company that wanted to run a successful business using raw materials, would have to pay the elites in exchange for it. Of course, that was bribery and with nobody to curb this excesses, it continued. Bribery became a huge problem in Africa, and the people weren't gaining from it. Companies would exploit their materials, pay the elites and they wouldn't get any profit, despite being the owners.

The people saw what was happening, and started to rebel and protest. With no strong military system, African countries had to request for aid from their former colonizers. They would provide their military aid in exchange for raw materials. 40 coups happened in Africa within two decades of their independence.

Soon, Africa was termed to have unstable governments. So unstable that, nobody was interested in investing in Africa. The problem was that, Africa was grouped as one single country. People didn't realize that there are different countries. For example, when someone hears about war in a part of Nigeria, they see it as war in a war filled zone. With that kind of instability, they didn't want to invest. If only they realized that the wars didn't affect the economic system, and it wasn't as bad as it was exaggerated to be.

In the 1980's education became better, more citizens became skilled, and politics was a more tolerable affair. Which was important because 3 major even happened during that time. The first was that, the infrastructure built by the colonizers was slowly depleting. Secondly, the little population in the continent that was educated, would move to better countries with a higher pay. This brain drain, made Africa to lose its best and most useful citizens.

Lastly, the soviet union decided to stop being a part of the cold war. So they stopped sending aides to their African allies. In turn, Western countries decided that they were also going to stop sending much money to African allies. All these affected the economy greatly. Quickly, African leaders no longer had enough money to keep themselves in power with the system of bribes.

With no choice, African countries went to Western countries requesting for financial aids. But, they were no longer interested in the materials in Africa, and couldn't provide this aid directly. Instead, they requested that there should privatization of industries in Africa, making it easier for countries to invest. African leaders tried to be sneaky, and pretended to privatize the industries. Rather, they would collect bribes in exchange for access to African markets. Everything still revolved around bribes, meaning nothing changed. Except that this time, Western industries supported this by rewarding foreign dictators with foreign aid packages.

Africa remained poor till 1989, which was when there were different protests around the world. Including Africa. Once again, Africans were protesting against their leaders. So, the western investors had to change tactics. Instead of giving bribes for fake privatization, they would pay African countries for reforming their government and solidifying democracy. This new changes, made African dictators to face 2 problems at once.

Firstly, their own people were getting restless and secondly, their income was reducing. Smartly, the dictators decided to reform the government only a little. But, enough to pacify the people, and impress the rich western countries. At least, democracy spread across Africa. Even though it wasn't completely fair and just. It still remained better than complete dictatorship.

The leaders in the 1990's, had to fight against corruption, in order to build a better system. They laid down policies that made Africans more involved in the activities of their countries. Also, international organizations such as African Union {AU} was established, to foster unity among African nations. Trade restrictions were lifted, and more things were set in place for a better economy. It has helped Africa to grow rapidly, and there has been progressive changes.

Finally, the 21st century. It's still too early to come up with any analysis. But, there are still many issues facing Africa. Africa countries are the least prepared for climate change, a 3rd of all children are malnourished. And, a 3rd of all children don't finish high school. Extremists find it easy to recruit the vast amount of poor unemployed people. Pandemics are common among the continent, with covid being just one among many. African countries are looking at the successes of East Asian countries, and adopting their policies.

This is the creation of more industries, good agricultural system and tech companies. A new generation of Africans are entering into the market, and are better educated, and skilled than any other generation before. With these hardworking entrepreneurs, the government has allowed a free market where it is easier to run an industry.

If the development in Africa continues, then it can finally bring an end to the systematic poverty that has plagued the continent for years. Africans are not only hopeful for the future, but for the first time since colonization, have the tools to get to the future they desire.

Is World War 3 Imminent? The Inside Story (Part 3)

Maybe you’ve asked yourself – "Are we going into World War 3? With all the news and drums of war looming everywhere."

The world will always be ruled by those who have powers. Those who don’t would be spectators or slaves. And at this time, it is not just good to sit and watch. It is important to learn so as to be relevant and understand how the world game is played.

Somebody said – “why are you discussing politics?” I said “because politics affects many things you do.” He said “how?” I said “just look at what you do now, and you will see politics.”

I guess what people don’t want to discuss is how bad the politicians are, not the politics itself. Because I have found out that because of this negligence attitude, a lot of people are ignorant about politics and just leave things in the hands of people who they think are not good.

If you want to change something, the best way to go about it is to first educate yourself about that thing before you change it. Politics is not bad, but the people who play it may be. Politics is not a one-man show or something for just some group of people, but politics is for everybody, because it affects everybody.

Take for instance, if the President of your country decides to increase the pump price of gas today, won’t it affect every citizen of your country? No matter how you want to seclude yourself from politics, it would affect you one way or the other.

If there is political conflict like what we have now between Russia and Ukraine, won’t it affect every sector? Practically every sector would feel the heat, including the educational sector, health, economy, security, infrastructure, business, entertainment, name it! Every sector would definitely be affected. This is more reason why you should keep yourself abreast of what is going on in your country and be educated about politics. We cannot overemphasize this.

Now to the current situation of what is happening between Ukraine and Russia. It is now clear that Ukraine wants to detach itself from Russia and wants to claim its sovereignty by all means. Being an independent country, it has the right to make its own decision by itself and choose whatever group or organization it wishes to join.

But Russia, on the other hand, is saying "Ukraine is my little sister, and I don’t want to leave her to my opponent."

More so, when this could consequentially lead Russia to spending more money on military and defence, because if NATO should be at its neighborhood, it would have to increase its military strength, so as to prepare for any imminent attack.

By and large, this is a political stalemate and both countries are at a critical crossroads. But what we hope is that they would reach a compromise that would favor both parties. It may not make sense to settle the conflict with war.

Nobody wants war. But the truth is, sometimes some people want to fight to claim their right or show who is superior. But we hope this current conflict between Russia and Ukraine won’t lead to war and they would both settle the matter amicably.

We want better nations. We want better people.
