Overcoming the Fear of the Future (Part 1)

Let’s talk about something many of us silently wrestle with—the fear of the future.

With all that’s happening in the world—wars, tariffs, political instability, threats of economic recession, rising debts, increasing responsibilities, and so on—it’s easy to feel a tightening in your chest.

Perhaps, you’ve even woken up in the middle of the night, your heart pounding, wondering: What will tomorrow bring? What will I do? Who will help me?

I understand. The fear of the future thrives in uncertainties. It feeds off questions that seem to have no answers. And the future, to the natural mind, is what they say—no one knows.

But here’s the turning point—what if you know the One who knows the future? What if you trust the One who not only holds time in His hands but crafted your life with intention, purpose, and focus long before you took your first breath?

When that truth settles in your heart, something powerful happens: your mind becomes calm, your soul becomes steady, and fear has no room to stay.

The Lord—the Creator of all things—designed you, knows you, and has promised to make all things beautiful in His time. Nothing takes Him by surprise. Not your fears. Not the chaos in the world. Not even your doubts.

Take a look at this scripture:

“Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?”

“Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?”

“Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?”

“And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:”

“And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.”

“Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field… shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?”

“Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?”

“…for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.”

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

“Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself…”

Imagine that!

I want you to let that scripture sink in. Read it again. Let it whisper peace to your stormy thoughts. If God takes such delicate care of the birds and the flowers—creatures that hold no great value as you—how much more will He take care of you?

But here’s the secret:

He said “Seek ye first the kingdom of God…”

That’s the priority. That’s the divine strategy. Seek ye first the kingdom of God. But where is the kingdom of God?

It is in you!

Jesus said, “The kingdom of God is not here or there. Nor will people say, ‘Look, here it is!’ or ‘There it is!’ For behold, the kingdom of God is within you.” That is powerful!

Everything you need to thrive, to navigate tomorrow, to overcome, to build, to rise—God has placed it in you. The instruction, the wisdom, the strength, the resilience, the clarity—it’s all inside.

So, tune out the noise of the world and tune in to the voice of the One within.

When you understand this… when you begin to draw direction from within instead of desperation from without… everything changes.

The fear of the future no longer controls your narrative. Panic gives way to purpose. You stand strong, planted in faith. You become unshakable, unbreakable, and unstoppable.

And then—you don’t just survive the future...You shape it. You manifest the glory of God.

So the question now is:

How do you really start seeking the kingdom of God?

I'll discuss that in the next article.
