We can say a thousand and one things about water. It is just mind-blowing. Water is ubiquitous; It's found everywhere, seen everywhere, used everywhere, and felt everywhere. How? Water is in the air. Water is in the soil. Water is in the plants and animals. Water is in man. What else? Both living and non-living things have some percentage of water in them. Some scientists have concluded that a place without water is a place without life. Let’s come to human body. The human body contains from 55% to 78% water, depending on the body size. To function properly, the body requires between one and seven liters of water per day to avoid dehydration; the precise amount depends on the level of activity, temperature, humidity, and other factors. Most of this is ingested through foods or beverages other than drinking straight water. Specifically, pregnant and breastfeeding women need additional fluids to stay hydrated. The Institute of Medicine (US) recommends that, on average, men consume 3.0 liters and women 2.2 liters; pregnant women should increase intake to 2.4 liters (10 cups) and breastfeeding women should get 3 liters (12 cups), since an especially large amount of fluid is lost during nursing. Also noted is that normally, about 20% of water intake comes from food, while the rest comes from drinking water and beverages (caffeinated included). Water is excreted from the body in multiple forms; through urine and faeces, through sweating, and by exhalation of water vapour in the breath. With physical exertion and heat exposure, water loss will increase and daily fluid needs may increase as well. Potable (drinkable) water is essential to human body. Approximately 1 billion of people in the world still lack access to safe drinking water. While 2.5 billion lack access to adequate sanitation. This is in contract to how ubiquitous water is. Though available, but could not be accessed by many. And those that could be accessed are not easily usable. Water can be purified in so many ways. It can be purified through storage in copper vessels, filtration, distillation, chlorination, ozonation, ultraviolet irradiation (exposure to sunlight), boiling, dipping hot iron/metal inside water, and addition of chemical compounds that kill pathogens. Water has got several purposes. From domestic (cooking, drinking, bathing, washing), to industrial (manufacturing, recreational, swimming, rafting, boating, hydropower generation), to agricultural (farming, gardening, fishing) and to transportation. Water has helped our world immensely and it’s joy to have it all around us. Happy Weekend.

Life Nutrients
Have you ever felt so hungry before? Have you ever woken up in a morning and the first thought that clouded your mind was "what am I going to eat today?" It becomes complicated when it’s a whole family, so frustrating and despairing. Not like you want to fast, but you just don’t have the means to eat. I’ve been there. It’s not a pleasant experience. When I hear people tell me they’ve not eaten for a whole day or for the past 3 days, I want to give everything I have to make sure they find something to eat. Many times, I’ve packaged food from my food business to give people who are hungry, because I know how it feels when one is hungry. What of number of people who are on the street asking for what to eat. That one I can’t just keep my eyes away. I feel so sympathetic and challenged, with number of people I have to feed in the world. Sometimes, some people look so sick and down. They’ve not been eating good food. Such people, their need is not hospital, It is food. If you have any help to offer at that moment, go ahead and do it. That will go a long way. The importance of food cannot be overemphasized. Jesus said; I am the bread of life. Though He's not talking about physical food, but it helps us to understand how important He is. He’s the drive/energy of life. Nothing moves without him. Nothing lives without him. No wonder, the scripture says all things were created by him and for him. He’s the source of all things. He’s the life of all things. If we have Jesus the bread of life in us, we’ll give life to people, from physical to spiritual. Our faith will be accompanied with works, and not just talk alone. Therefore, let’s bless people with our food and everything we've got and they will live to glorify our Father in Heaven. Blessings.

What Are We Going To Do Now?
Many people are hungry around us. Over 8,000 children are dying of hunger everyday. Is it that there’s no food to eat or there’s no means to get it? Either of it is not an excuse for anyone to die of hunger, especially children. Just $30 billion will end world hunger. That’s too small compare to what corrupt leaders embezzle from public funds. Let’s drive it home. Individually, what can we do? If there’s no food to eat, how can we provide it? It's simple, by investing more into agriculture. We need to till our lands. We need to improve our agricultural activity. Africa has more than enough land to feed the entire world. The resources are too much for us to be wallowing in poverty. In a case where there’s too much wastage of agricultural produce, let’s improvise on how we can process, store and preserve those foods for future use. We should never allow food wastage. We can create food bank where people can bring in cooked or perishable foods for others who don’t have privilege to buy and come and eat. We should reduce activities that entrench us into poverty, activities that make us less productive and be determined to work. We are not going to wait for government. We are not going to wait for people. We are going to take the bull by the horn and do the right thing, despite all obstacles. We should all be determined to help ourselves. If you see someone who is hungry around you and doesn’t have the means, help that person. That will go a long way. There are some people around us that need someone to raise them out of poverty. They don’t have anything to eat. They are jobless and homeless. They sleep on the street or under the bridge. For those that have the capacity among us, let’s look after these ones and help them. Let’s give them hope once again after they’ve been frustrated out of life. No matter how small what you can do, that will go a long way, go ahead and do it. Let’s make life better for ourselves…to be continued! Happy Weekend. Blessings.

I'm 29 Today
I’m 29 today. What does it feel like? It feels like 22. Like the speed of light, I’ve grown up. Thank God for the gift of life. So, today should be the day when I should say it. Yes, I love cooking food. And I also love Medicine. I joined the two, it becomes 'Food Medicine'. Yes, I’m a Doctor. And I’m also a Chef. I want to feed nations. I want to save lives. Let people eat good food and remain healthy to fulfill their purpose. You will agree with me that most health problems in the world today are food problems; It’s either you have too much food or too little food. I want to solve food problems. You’re feel free to join my team. Here I am today, thank God for the life and the future He has set before me. And thanks to people who have been of great blessings in my life. I appreciate you all. Happy birthday Dr. S.O PIENS. Higher grounds. Feel free to drop your questions or comments below.

Today Is Mother's Day
If you've never been a mother, you won't know the pains of motherhood. If you've never had a new born, you won't know the challenge of sleepless nights. Mothers are models. Mothers are jewels. They've invested so much on us. Thank God for our mothers. On this special day, I celebrate my mother, God's blessing in my life. Thank you so much for all your investments in my life. Though we don't choose mothers, but I sure know virtually all mothers are excellent. They care for us. They sacrifice for us. If your mother doesn't want you, she won't keep you in her womb for 9 months. If she doesn't love you, she won't care for you while you were young. Thanks to our mothers. I'll like you to celebrate your mother today. And for those women who are looking forward for the joy of motherhood, may God fulfill your good desires and make you be the best mother that you had always dreamt to be. God bless all our mothers and make them live long on earth in good health and prosperity. Blessings.

Happy International Women's Day
This is coming from my heart to all women in our world, you are such a people of inestimable value. Women have been of great blessing to me. Though I’ve not married, but women have played active roles in most of my life achievements. Thanks a lot. God bless you much more. I nearly forgot today is women’s day, but one thing I’m sure about women, they will never forget days or dates. They are so meticulous and such an amazing personality. Thanks a lot for being a blessing to us. Congratulations on International Women's Day. Hearty Cheers!
